A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered a stand down on the bail application of the national publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),  Olisa Metuh.

The judge over the case, Okon Abang stood down the case for 45 minutes. An hour before the arrival of the judge, an elated Metuh walked into the court in the company of three prison wardens.
The court had ordered a stand down on the bail application of Chief Metuh earlier in the day. The judge presiding over the case, Okon Abang stood down the case for 45 minutes.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, on the condition that he pays N400 million as bond.
Mr. Metuh is to also submit his international passport, and must provide two sureties with N200 million each. The sureties must have properties in Maitama district of Abuja.
The PDP spokesperson was taken to court on Tuesday in handcuffs.
He is accused of receiving N400 million from an arms money diverted by the office of the National Security Adviser.
Mr. Metuh has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for about two weeks

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief
Olisa Metuh, was driven off in a prison pick-up van ‎from the premises
of the Federal High Court in Abuja, shortly after he was granted bail in
the sum of N400m by the court on Tuesday.
Metuh, who was
produced in court in handcuff for the bail hearing on Tuesday, is to
remain in prison till when he meets the bail conditions.
After the
court delivered its ruling on Tuesday, prison officials led him to a
waiting pick-up van and he was locked up at the rear cabin of the
vehicleThe vehicle with registration number PS 682 AA and with
inscription, Kuje Prison, FCT Command, Abuja, was driven off from the
court premises at exactly 4:10pm
Justice Okon Abang, in a ruling
shortly after Metuh’s bail application was argued on Tuesday, granted
the PDP spokesperson in the sum of N400m with two sureties in the sum of
N200m each.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and the UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Obaid Attayar signed the Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement, while the Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah signed the Agreement on Trade Promotion and Protection with the UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs.

ABUJA— Nigeria’s woes in the area of dwindling revenue from crude oil sales is expected to heighten in the next couple of days, as the South African Petroleum Industry Association, SAPIA, yesterday, stated that South Africa would likely stop importing crude oil from Nigeria following the lifting of the sanctions on Iran.

He said: “The re-emergence of Iranian crude oil provides options for those willing to buy from Iran. Iranian imports are likely to displace the Nigerian and Saudi Arabian crudes, since they seem to have filled the gap since South Africa stopped importing Iranian crude oil.”READ FULL NEWS….

The Biafra had earlier through OEAS requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini, to wade into the need to conduct a referendum for Biafra’s independence.
In response to this request, Mogherini told Dr. Jonathan Levy, OEAS chief administrative officer, that while the European Union has strong diplomatic and economic relationship with Nigeria, the “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.”

According to Todayng, the suit against Buhari and other senior officials would be filled by Göran Sluiter of Prakken d’Oliveira Human Rights Lawyers, a law firm based in Amsterdam on January 29.
Explaining the reasons for the action against the federal government, the firm on Tuesday, January 19 stated that: “To date, there is clear and consistent evidence that crimes against humanity within the jurisdiction of the ICC—in particular: murder, unlawful imprisonment, torture, enforced disappearance, other inhumane acts, and persecution—have been committed in the context of politically- and ethnically-motivated state violence against, primarily, IPOB members and the Igbo people of South-Eastern Nigeria.”

Top militant leaders, who have been causing havoc in the Niger Delta and major oil depots in the South-West, have laid out conditions under which they would stop the renewed bombing of oil installations and embrace peace.
According to reports, the militants said they would only drop their arms when the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, meets and negotiates with them.
The militants issued the position after a secret meeting involving their leaders from the Niger Delta and their counterparts in Alepo, Agric, Epe, Ikorodu, Itoki and Igbokoda areas of Lagos.
One of the top leaders, who gave his name as General Levi, said that they would not want to back down until the Petroleum Minister meets them and secures amnesty for their members to avoid being persecuted by security agencies.

The Aba killings, according to our correspondents, were triggered off when the Uchenna Madu faction of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, clashed with a combined team of soldiers and policemen.
The pro-Biafra groups, who had ordered markets, banks, schools and other business centres to close shop in solidarity with their protest, converged at the National High School, on Port Harcourt Road, Aba, from where they attempted to march and enforce the order, but were quickly dispersed by soldiers and policemen.
Vanguard gathered that the protesters earlier confronted the soldiers at Port Harcourt Road which led to the death of one of their members. In a similar clash around the St. Michael’s Road area, a bystander, Chidozie Okafor, was also hit by a stray bullet and he died before he could receive medical attention.
Speaking on the situation, MASSOB National Welfare Officer, Jude Chukwu, said the protest was peaceful until soldiers and policemen came and started shooting and using tear gas. He added that over 30 members of pro-Biafra protesters sustained bullet wounds and are being treated in various hospitalsREAD FULL NEWS….

When I came out, they poured kerosene on my body and set me ablaze.
